        2014. The special economic zone(This is a Japanese term "keizaitokku" where there is no English translation, really) of Mareppa, where many asian cultures mix. Sho(Gackt), who has just turned eight, is one of the street children called "the orphans of Mareppa". Sho, his elder brother Shinji and his friend Toshi survive by pilfering and Shoplifting. One day, Sho meets a cursed youth, Kei(hyde) and takes him back to his hideout. Soon, a tragedy occurs. A man Sho and his friends stole Shoes from comes to the hideout for revenge. Sho and Toshi run for their lives and Shinji is Shot in the back. It was then. Kei kills the man with a frightening power.

        Ten years later, Sho has turned 19 and he, along with Kei and Toshi attack the local mafia "Rukai" in an attempt to get their hands on their money. There they meet a youth, Mago! (means "grandchild" in Japanese), who is also trying to annihilate the Rukai. They become friends and are invited to Mago'S house. At Mago's house they meet his younger sister, Yi-Che. Yi-Che has been the target of violence from the Rukai and because of the Shock of the attack has become unable to speak. Aiming to become an artist, she works in the park painting pictures. Sho falls for Yi-Che. Yi-Che falls in love with Kei. While this love triangle forms, a golden era begins for Sho and his friends. It was a wonderful time(it says in japanese "orange days"). The likes of which Sho and his friends, who had born so much pain in the past, had never tasted before. However, on the day of Yi-Che's art exhibition, another tragedy occurs. An assassin of the Rukai's highest council, "Gishinkai"(this means something like "the council of the heart of justice"), has come in vengence.

        Toshi achieves a heroic end and Sho, Mago and! Yi-Che flee. Again, Kei slaughters the assassin with his accursed power. Seeing Kei's frightening true character, Mago and Yi-Che are Shocked. Before long, Kei disappears.

        Another year passes. Sho gathers the migrants of Mareppa and makes a team, secretly planning to take revenge on the Gishinkai who killed Toshi. Also, Sho has married Yi-Che and they have a child, and his elder brother Shinji, who has lost the use of one leg, is given a restaurant to run. Mago has joined the Gishinkai and has come to stand in opposition to Sho.

        During this time, Kei is awaiting the death sentence in a jail in another country. While Sho's war on the Ginshinkai intensifies, Shinji begins to die and new friends are formed. Yi-Che is torn between her husband and her brother. Kei finds out about the danger. Sho's team is facing and finally breaks out of prison and returns to Mareppa. However, the maddening gears are already unstoppable. In the midst of blinding love and hate, Kei and Sho run at full speed to the promised land...
